Match report

From the club's own report · By Matt Coppinger

2nd Year Outside Linebacker Steve Dennis destroyed Bath's dreams of beating the champions as he ran in a 3rd quarter interception to take the lead. Hurricanes QB Alex Cameron capitalised on the heart breaker by passing to wideout Ben Smith within minutes to finish the game Hertfordshire 14 Bath 0. Richard Savage kicked both extra points.

The Hurricanes hadn't stepped out onto the field since last years College Bowl victory and no-one knew what to expect. Both teams had strong seasons last year and were returning plenty of veterans. The key to the game would be rookies starting on offense.

Indeed both offenses failed to finish off drives as the defensive play of Bath's Nick Burns and Herts Steve Dennis dominated the game.

Burns was particularly impressive for Bath with numerous stops in the backfield and several sacks. Dennis however was the game's MVP as his leadership and gritty play brought Hert's first TD. His interception changed the game and swung the momentum Hert's way. With the champions revitalised, they won the ball back and on their next possession Cameron hit Smith for a 34 yard TD.
