Match report
From the club's own report · By Christian Steward
Hertfordshire Hurricanes dominated a brave Kent Falcon's team on Sunday 13th December. The game was a complete annihilation of a much weaker team. With a squad of around 16 players, the Falcons played hard and never let their heads go down in what was to be Hertz highest ever scoring game.
The Canes came out with their usual strong hard hitting brand of football. The defense took to the field first, but soon had the offense on. A few plays later saw the offense scoring on a Dean Mason run making the score 7-0 with Neil White adding the extra point.
Then Herts kicked off and saw rookie corner Kabir "the Destroyer" smash the Falcon's wedge, allowing for an easy tackle to be made. The defense then dominated the field once more, forcing the Falcons back and then forcing them to punt. However the punt was not to be. The Stallion Huw Stacey charged through the line to block the punt and then recover the ball in the end zone for a defensive touchdown and in what was my opinion the play of the day. Score 13-0.
The Falcons offense came on putting the Herts Force XII Defense back to work. It was short work as the Falcons soon found themselves having to punt after not managing to move the ball. The punt was then returned by Rookie Dean Mason for his second touchdown of the day. Neil White added the extra point making the score 20-0.
The next drive saw the Falcon's offense fumble the ball allowing Christian Steward to recover it for the Canes. The offense then fired up once again to see Bode Oyewusi, recently returned from suspension, to break several tackles for his first touchdown of the day. Score 26-0.
The next Falcon drive saw them move the ball into field goal range. At fourth down, from the 30 yd line, the kicker attempted and scored a great kick, in what was to be their only score of the day. Score 26-3. It set up another scoring drive by the offense which was capped off by a 10 yd run by Mason. Score 32-3.
The second half saw more of the same from the Hurricanes. The kick off was returned for a touch down by Clive Pulumbo with a key monster "You could even hear his mother scream" hit, by the one and only hitman Tony Groden. This total wipeout, left the way clear for Pulumbo to score.
The Falcons offense then came on and fumbled the ball, recovered by Chris Renshaw. The Canes then went to work and saw Cameron pass to Tight End Mike Butler for a 20 yd touchdown catch and run for the touchdown. The score was now 45-3. The Canes defense then came on and Christian Steward managed to recover another fumble. The Canes took full advantage and scored again on an Ostrega run. Neil White added the extra point making the score 52-3.
The final scores saw Bode Oyewusi go in for his second and Dean Mason go in for his forth. Making the final score 64-3. (I had no stats for most of the game, so this is mostly from memory. If I've made mistakes I apologize).
Players of the game were Tony Groden on defense, Dean Mason on offense and Chris Renshaw with game MVP. Special mentions should go to New comer Clive Pulumbo for his excellent game, Christian Steward at Defensive End, Inside and Outside Linebacker, for a solid game on defense racking up 6 tackles in the first half and 2 fumble recoveries. Neil White for his 4 extra points and Nigel, who almost managed to get the whole team offside on Kick Off. (Funniest thing I've seen for a long time!)
The Canes go into the Christmas break at the top of their division and are well on track for the play-offs. Surrey are the first team in the new year, so its straight back to business. (Keep fit guys over the break, Just like I plan to!!!!!!)
