Career with the Hurricanes

  1. 1995–96

Joined a young squad that fielded nine rookie starters on offence, wearing No. 85 at tight end. He caught 28 passes, a club record, and scored two touchdowns in a run-based offence led by a rookie quarterback, and was named Offensive MVP.[3][8][5]

  2. 1996–97

Became the offence’s main threat after a change of scheme. He caught 30 more passes for just under 300 yards, with four touchdowns and four two-point conversions, as the Hurricanes went 5–3 for their first winning season. He was picked for the All-College First Team and voted Hurricanes MVP by his team-mates.[3][9][5]

  3. November 2002

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in its founding class, still holding the club receiving record, and named at tight end in the 10th-anniversary All-Time Team.[1][7][10]
