1999–2001

Pete Hogben

Defensive tackle and lineman who played from 1995–96 to 2000–01, was a 1999–2000 GB Bulldog and was Lineman of the Year in 2000–01. Inducted into the club Hall of Fame in 2002.

Career with the Hurricanes

  1. 1995–96

    First listed on the Hurricanes roster as a defensive tackle.[6][7]

  2. 1998–99

    His blocking helped set up Ben Smith’s 62-yard punt-return touchdown against Surrey. In College Bowl XIII he was one of the linemen whose blocks sprang Dawid Ostrega in the 7–3 win over Loughborough Aces.[8][9]

  3. 1999–2000 · 21 November 1999

    Played through an injury on both the offensive and defensive lines and was named offensive MVP in a 44–0 win over Leeds Celtics.[10]

  4. 1999–2000 · 5 December 1999

    Made four tackles, three of them sacks, in a 40–14 win at Surrey Stingers.[11]

  5. 1999–2000 · March 2000

    Was praised with Huw Stacey, Christian Steward and Chris Renshaw for the defensive line’s work in the 22–8 Southern Conference final win over Oxford Cavaliers. The squad went on to win College Bowl XIV, the club’s third straight national title.[12][2][13]

  6. 2000–01

    Named Hurricanes Lineman of the Year, playing on both lines, and selected to the All-College First Team at offensive tackle.[1][2][3]

  7. November 2002

    Inducted into the Hall of Fame in its founding class and named at defensive tackle in the 10th-anniversary All-Time Team.[4][14][5]
